Cambridge Audio 840A
Which similar products have you used?
None lately, but previously Quad II.
Summary
Started quite harsh, but has mellowed considerably after burn in period of CD. Partly may be loudspeakers used (KEF iQ7) too. Overall presence is excellent and is easy to use overall.
How long have you used the product?
Less than 1 month
- What are the strengths?
- Well constructed and good number of inputs. Currently, running iPod and Cambridge Audio 840C CD. Can be used to provide music, etc. to other rooms with Icognito from CA. Protection for loudspeakers.
- What are the weaknesses?
- Not exactly subtle. Cannot control iPod currently without hard to get controller. Start process, but cannot stop and select tracks, etc. Commander that comes with amplifier works CD too and you have to remeber to switch back to Amplifier or use two separate Commanders (one that comes with each item).
